Back From “CREATE” in Chicago!

The CREATE event sponsored by the terrific publication Cloth Paper Scissors was fabulous. Everything was put together with the greatest attention to detail.

I taught the workshop “Fun Funky Rings” and when I got back home I decided to make a fun funky ring using sterling sliver, a beautiful geode, and some pearls and crystals.

Here are some photos of earrings I made this weekend.

Well, here’s one photo. I have to get a new program to manage and edit my photos. I have been using Picasa, it was the software that came with my camera. As I understand it, it is “web based”. I don’t know exactly what that means in the world of computing, but for my purposes it means that it gets automatically updated and now I haven’t a clue how to work the latest update. I import the photos from my camera, edit them and then when I go to the file to post them the edits are missing. But if I look at the photos in Picasa the edits are there. It’s making me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions about an easy software to use?

Beautiful Spring Flower or Weed?

This morning Wonderful R, little DaeTzi dog, and I were walking along the Santa Fe River enjoying the Spring sunshine and the glorious yellow flowers growing in the green belt. When I came a little closer I saw the flowers were Dandelions. In the spring sunshine there by the river they were lovely, but if they were in my yard I would want to rip those weeds out before they go to seed and make more weeds.

It all depends on placement, no matter what it is. Gravel in my driveway is a nice rustic touch, gravel (just one little piece) in my shoe is painful. Paint on the wall is a good thing, paint on the carpet is bad.

Just something to think about.

What Can I Say?

What can I say? I’m not much of a blogger. In fact I’m pretty much a blogging failure. Now’s the time I need my mom to say “Oh, you can’t do that blogging thing! No one cares what you think”, then my contrary nature would kick in and I’d become a blogging maniac. But I have no one in my life right now to but heads with. Living almost blissfully with the Wonderful R and making jewelry every day gives me nothing to be contrary about.

Here is a necklace I made recently using ICE Resin, Objects and Elements new round Staple Bezel, brass chain, and some sparkling Swarovski crystals. The pendant is made by pouring colored ICE Resin into a mold I made from a button my friend and fellow design team member Deryn Mentock gave me. The button was a battered “survivor” of hurricane Ike that hit the Texas coast in September of 2008.

It’s Just Wonderful Here

It’s been a while since I attended to my blog. Today it’s snowing, the sky is gray and heavy so unlike most days here in Santa Fe. I’m fascinated by the big snow flakes gently fluttering down. Being from Southern California it’s quite a novelty for me. For folks who live in snowy parts of the country this probably sounds crazy. I’m having fun making scarves and hats and finding all the perfect cold weather gear. Even the little dogs gets sweaters and doggie boots.
